Application and Selection
First of all, please ensure that you have read through all the relevant documentation relating to the position you are applying for; each of the Person Specification, Job Description, Notes to Candidates and ‘Competency Questions’ documents contain important information that will both help you to apply and ensure that you apply correctly.
It is essential that you complete all sections of the application form, providing evidence of your abilities and experience in each of the required competency areas. The answers you provide to the competency questions will be used to determine whether we will invite you for the next stage of the recruitment process so please take time to complete these fully.
Candidates who pass the competency sift will be invited to attend a Core Skills Assessment in Croydon. Successful candidates will then be invited to an assessment consisting of a presentation and interview. This will be held during April/May 2008 at Sandridge, Herts or Horsham, West Sussex; you will be contacted nearer the time with the relevant details.

Please be aware that there are a series of questions in the application form which will provide us with specific information about your suitability for the post. These questions relate to some of the skills and abilities that are required to work effectively within the Home Office Scientific Development Branch.
The questions therefore ask you to provide clear examples and evidence of what you have done in your work that demonstrate your suitability.
